The Dutch Independence Foundation has the following statutory objectives:
- Organizing an annual Dutch Independence Address (26 July), the Dutch Independence Award and other activities that increase knowledge and understanding of state independence.
- Stimulating knowledge about the liberation war of the Netherlands during the beginning of what is now known as the ‘Eighty Years’ War or Dutch Revolt;
- Organizing related lectures, such as the Apology Address (every 13 December) in commemoration of the publication of the manifest or Apology of William of Orange in 1580;
- Drawing attention to the Act of Abjuration as the Dutch Declaration of Independence;
- Intensifying knowledge about these birth certificates of the Netherlands, by promoting knowledge tools in the Dutch education system.
Another objective of the Foundation is tot erect a research institution that fosters the study into the political philosophy embedded in the Act of Adjudication. Many other countries already have such an institution.
Remuneration policy
Under the statute of the Dutch Independence Foundation, the founders and board members have no right to compensation for their efforts whatsoever.
